With Barack Obama tip-toeing around the meaning of jihad Sunday, on Monday, the Muslim cleric behind the attempts to blow up U. S. bound planes and the underwear bomber, set the record straight on the meaning of jihad when he once again issued a call for jihad to kill Americans.

You newly elected Conservative Representatives that the American people are sending to Congress next year must not forget why you were elected. You are 'Conservatives.' You must not forget the local officials that were removed from office. You must not forget the judges who were removed from their benches. We will not tolerate our destruction at your hands.

The late psychic Edgar Cayce was famed for predicting that in the not-too-distant future the entire state of California would collapse into the Pacific Ocean and disappear beneath the sea.

Martin Luther King said that we should judge a person by the content of their character, not the color of their skin. Well, crime is bad character. And Arizona is trying to protect itself from bad characters and their crimes against Arizona citizens, some of whom have been kidnapped and murdered. And some of these victims are even of Mexican descent. And this crime has also spread to the rest of the country. In fact it is against the country as a whole because the term “illegal alien” implicitly says that what they are doing is against our laws. Therefore there is no racism here, and it is frustrating to hear people try to make that argument.

The television show “Glee” (a show I’ve never seen) is going to deal with bullying later this season. I suspect that bullying has been going on for a long time. The strong often prey on the weak for any number of reasons. Bullies are cowards. They are middle management. Those at the top of the social pecking order hardly ever bully. They don’t need to.

On Saturday, October 30th I attended a campaign rally in Charleston, WV, for Republican candidate John Raese. My 9 year old son Ethan wanted to tag along with me. He’s taken a real interest in politics due to the recent election. I’ve had the opportunity to explain to him our electoral process and the great privilege we have as Americans to exercise our right to vote.

So every year I hear about the flu shot and the efforts to encourage more people to get the shot. During college, I worked at a hospital and naturally they were persistent in recommending that we take the shot since we were around sick people all the time. Well, the first year I took the shot I got sick. A little flu, but still, I got sick. They said it was a coincidence and that I must have been getting sick already.

Last column, I showed some positive and negative things we can learn from our staunchest ally, Australia. This time, I’ll continue on the same line, but this time with voting.

Our country was founded on a revolutionary concept -- a new kind of government both empowered and controlled by its citizens. This idea, the very foundation of our great experiment in democracy, was betrayed with enactment of the new healthcare act. Every poll showed that a majority of Americans rejected this legislation and yet Congress ran right over the majority will of the American people and enacted it into law.
