Why Liberals are Frantic
Can you tell that time is drawing short? Have you noticed that the liberals in Congress are biting at the bit to get a health care bill passed? This is because they’re in a bit of a quandary. First of all, there are next month’s elections. Two critical races for governor in Virginia and New Jersey are taking on more of a national spotlight. And an even hotter contest taking place in New York—where a special election has been called for a congressional seat between a liberal democrat, a liberal republican, and a conservative—is also drawing a lot of press attention.
Basically the “Cliffs Notes” version of the NY race is that Sarah Palin has endorsed the conservative candidate and Newt Gingrich has endorsed the republican. Now, we do need to try and work at turning the GOP back into the conservative party, but when they fail to bring a conservative candidate and there is a viable alternative, then touting the party line is out the window. Primaries are going to be very important next year. That is when we must nominate conservative candidates to take over congress. Trying to start a third party does nothing except give the victory to the liberals. I know and agree that it is very frustrating right now with very few of our representatives actually listening to our concerns for conservative values, but hang in there. I believe we are in the critical month of the fight.
You can be pretty sure that a number of the contests in next week’s elections are not going to go the liberal’s way. Polls aren’t looking good for them, and conservatives are pretty upset with how things are going in DC. Coupled with the upcoming holiday vacation, this will bring us into next year, which, of course is 2010. A very critical election year for President Obama. History teaches that the party of the sitting president loses seats in Congress and with as fired up as the constituents are, there is a great chance of it being the biggest seat change ever.
So you see, if we can get these controversial bills delayed a bit longer, we’re into the election year where politicians don’t like voting on controversial bills that may harm their chances of getting reelected.
