No More Terror in the Skies if Men Take Charge

How many of you have heard about the November 17, 2009 AirTran Flight 297 from Atlanta to Houston? While there is some confusion about what really happened, there is no doubt some passengers were alarmed enough to leave the plane when it returned to the gate. They believed a terrorist “dry run” was in progress. AirTran has downplayed the “alleged incident.” Were these men just messing with the passengers? I don’t know, but I’m not taking any chances.

Veterans Day: Pause to Remember at the 11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month

For 90 years, the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month has been a remembrance of those who served America in a time of war. But the Nov. 11 Veterans Day commemoration began as a day to celebrate peace — the silencing of the guns of World War I, "The Great War," which claimed the lives of more than 15 million soldiers and civilians.

House Republicans Find 111 New 'Bureaucracies' in Health Care Bill

House Republicans claimed Monday that the health care reform bill pushed by Speaker Nancy Pelosi would create a whopping 111 new "federal bureaucracies." In its latest attempt to portray the Democrats' reform package as an unwieldy expansion of federal government in the health care sector, the House Republican Conference circulated what it called a list of "new boards, bureaucracies, commissions and programs" created in the House health care bill.

Beware of Liberal Revisionist History

“A wonderful gift to the children of this country.” -- Tom Brokaw. The above quote is found on the front cover of the book, The American Story: 100 True Tales from American History. I discovered this book at our local public library last week. I was there gathering books for the next two weeks of school. We will be studying the United States. I chose this book because it looks great. The illustrations are wonderful, and the stories are short – just right for young children.
