Media Racists Attack Obama

The votes clearly are there. If Obama can't get the votes for ending the current tax rates for the wealthiest Americans, it's because the Democrats remember the election outcome. I cannot emphasize this enough. We are still in the lame duck here. The Democrats have a 100-seat majority in the House of Representatives. Obama just said the votes were not there to give him what he wanted, in a 100-seat majority, House of Representatives. Stop and think of that. If that's even true. But how do you like Jake Tapper's lingo, Obama was going to let LeBron James keep X, but now Obama's only going to let LeBron James keep Y. What is this "Obama letting" stuff? "Government is going to let." See, that furthers this notion that all money is Washington's and that whatever any of us end up with is what that allow us to have or to keep. It's a big bugaboo of mine.

The Tax Deal: What Do You Think?

Man, oh, man, oh, man, ladies and gentlemen, the left, what a bunch of racists! I mean they're all over MSNBC. They are all over the New York Times, the Washington Post. I have never seen such a collection of racists, all these liberals criticizing Obama on this compromise on the tax bill. Well, every bit of criticism of Obama's always been said to be racist, hasn't it? What a bunch of just undisguised racism we are seeing in America today. Normally they camouflage their racism pretty well, but I mean they can't, they're so upset. It's there for one and all to see.

Sharpton: Rush can say what he wants...except

The Reverend Al Sharpton is the latest in a long line of lefties to call for some form of the fairness doctrine - that must be what he's saying because he wants Rush Limbaugh off the air immediately because he might 'offend' someone. It's the kind of policy that would make Hugo Chavez proud - but it's also just a really stupid point. Glenn has the audio of yet another lefty who can't compete on the battlefield of ideas and resorts to silencing opponents.

What's up with Russia?

While the media and all the national attention is focused on Julian Assange - is anyone watching what the other hand is doing? As we debate if Assange should be in jail or not, Russia is quietly grabbing control of 50% of America's uranium output and meeting with the President about implementing the new smart grid. What does Russia have up their sleeve?

Ayers anger: I never denounced my violence!

Weather Underground radical Bill Ayers was actually offended by an interviewer who suggested Ayers had a history of denouncing his violent past in previous interviews and reprimanded the host. Apparently he's proud of his violent past - and he sees similarities between himself, the Weather Underground, and Julian Assange. Glenn has the audio and reaction on radio today.

FCC push to regulate news draws fire

Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas) pushed back on Monday against a contention by a Democratic FCC commissioner that the government should create new regulations to promote diversity in news programming. Barton was reacting to a proposal made last week by FCC Commissioner Michael Copps, who in a speech suggested that broadcasters be subject to a new "public values test" every four years. "I hope … that you do not mean to suggest that it is the job of the federal government, through the [FCC], to determine the content that is available for Americans to consume,” Barton wrote Monday in a letter to Copps. Copps had suggested that the test would make a broadcaster's license renewal contingent upon proof that they meet a prospective set of federal criteria.

Catch-and-release of Taliban fighters angers troops; More than 500 let go

More than 500 suspected Taliban fighters detained by U.S. forces have been released from custody at the urging of Afghan government officials, angering both American troops and some Afghans who oppose the policy on the grounds that many of those released return to the battlefield to kill NATO soldiers and Afghan civilians. And those numbers understate the problem, military officials say. They do not include suspected Taliban fighters held in small combat outposts or other forward operating bases throughout the region who are released before they ever become part of the official detainee population. An Afghan official who spoke on condition of anonymity said that President Hamid Karzai's government has personally sought the release of as many as 700 suspected Taliban fighters since July, including some mid-level leaders.

For a few, Pearl Harbor still a vivid memory

Jim Morgan was sleeping a little late on the morning of Dec. 7, 1941. His mother, Beryl, had tried to wake him up at about 7:30, but the 9-year-old, whose family lived at the Navy base at Pearl Harbor, didn't stir until she came back about 25 minutes later. He got up just in time to witness history out his bedroom window. "I said, 'Look, Ma! There's a fire at the submarine base.'" At that same moment, Russell Meyne was sitting down to a plate of pancakes, bacon and eggs in the mess hall at Pearl Harbor's Hickam Air Base, 2 miles away. He was hoping to revitalize himself after a night of drinking beer with his buddies, celebrating their selection to a group that would be heading to the mainland for flight training. Suddenly, everything changed. "The table almost bounced up and down, and all the pots and pans in the kitchen started falling on the floor," said Meyne, an Army private at the time, now 91 and treasurer of the South Carolina branch of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.

Lawmakers to Obama: Correct reference to US motto as 'In God We Trust'

Members of Congress on Monday called on President Obama to issue a public correction after he incorrectly labeled E pluribus unum the U.S.'s motto in a speech last month, rather than "In God We Trust." The lawmakers, members of the Congressional Prayer Caucus, also said the president was making "a pattern" of dropping the word "Creator" when he recites the self-evident truths of the Declaration of Independence. "By misrepresenting things as foundational as the Declaration of Independence and our national motto, you are not only doing a disservice to the people you represent you are casting aside an integral part of American society," the representatives said in a stern letter asking for him to correct the speech.

Obama's Tax Cut Deal Infuriates Liberals

President Obama and White House officials underscored the need to compromise Monday in unveiling a congressional deal to avoid the expiration of the Bush-era tax cuts at the end of the year, but some of the toughest critics of Obama's version of compromise come from within his own party. Democrats have generally argued that the tax cuts should be extended for the middle class -- but not for the wealthiest 2 percent. Republicans have argued that the cuts should be extended for all taxpayers.
