Taxpayer Calculator: Extending Unemployment Benefits
There are two schools of thought when it comes to extending unemployment benefits: one is economic and the other is emotional. If Congress does not prolong the payments, two million Americans will lose their benefits right away, and the Obama administration estimates seven million Americans will be affected if a year-long extension isn't passed.
Forty percent of those unemployed right now have been out of work for six-plus months and unemployment has risen to 9.8 percent.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca.) said that extending benefits is the best type of deficit spending. Pelosi says whatever money you give to jobless Americans goes back into the economy immediately and without it the recovery will stall, causing more people to lose their jobs.

Holiday Treat for the Bush Tax Cuts?
Maybe it’s the holiday season, but if the reports are true President Obama and congressional Republicans have reached a compromise on extending the Bush tax cuts that gives taxpayers and the economy a wondrous gift.
While details are sketchy and ever-so-important, President Obama announced he has agreed to extend all the Bush tax cuts for two years, through 2012. The necessity of economic growth trumped the ideology of redistributionism, though the President did take plenty of jabs at the wealthiest Americans. The compromise also includes the unfortunate resurrection of the death tax, but at a less punishing rate of 35 percent combined with a $5 million exemption. Two things to remember as the debate turns over to Congress: keeping current tax policy is not a tax cut, it’s preventing a tax hike, and would let all Americans keep more of their own money. Since this isn’t a tax cut, it doesn’t need to be “paid” for.

Fairness Doctrine Alarm Sounded
Well, I'm aware of what he said. It's been a wet dream of theirs for who knows how long, to be able to have these kinds of regulations, limitations, and so forth. But if they do that, and if they ever do succeed in this massive restriction of commercial broadcasting, there are other places to go that are not regulated and they don't have their mitts into yet. Regardless, just like the Fairness Doctrine, I know what these guys have in mind, I know what their game plan is, I know how they're gonna go about it. Basically use intimidation, license renewal, fines, all this kind of thing. But for some reason now, it may just be my eternal optimism, and unlike you, I have not written myself off yet. I don't mean that personally. I've not written off the industry. I don't think these guys are gonna totally succeed. People won't put up with it, people are simply not gonna put up with it.

More People on Unemployment Benefits Grows the Democrat Party
Look, everything since 1965, every Democrat welfare initiative, folks, has been to grow a bigger and bigger crop of Democrat voters who are dependent on the government. Europe has had a permanent underclass for a long time. That's why the communist, socialist base is so tremendously strong in Europe and has been since World War I. The whole point of these social welfare programs is to create more Democrats, because that's who these people end up depending on for what meager existence they end up with. Now, the Democrats in the United States have wanted to accomplish that here, a permanent growing underclass, and they've been working on it since 1965. And they're well on their way to accomplishing it. This is why the numbers are who they are. There's five to six, maybe ten years to stop this and turn this around

The Latest on Unemployment and the Bush Tax Rate Extensions
Ladies and gentlemen, I have a question. I have a whole unemployment stack here, but before I get to the unemployment news stack per se, I have a question. I'm still kind of reeling here over the theories and the philosophy that we got last week, and that is that unemployment benefits create robust economic activity. I'm still trying to get my arms around that, and not only that, unemployment benefits, if we fail to extend 'em, it's going to cost us 600,000 jobs. Now, my question, if unemployment benefits are so good for the economy, why hasn't it worked for the past 99 or 150 weeks? Look at all the people that have been on unemployment. We ought to have just a rolling recovery going on. But of course we don't. It's absurd some of the things that are being said out there. Now, here is the unemployment stack, ladies and gentlemen, and the first story is from Ben Bernanke. Bernanke was on 60 Minutes last night.

See, I Told You So: Democrats in Despair, Disarray, Livid at Obama
See, there are two kinds of Democrats. (chuckles) Well, probably even more. There are two primary kinds. One kind that wants to stay in power, wants the Democrats to run things and just wants to get along here with the Democrat Party being a normal, functioning, everyday leftist party -- and then there's the Obama Democrats that want to destroy the country, and they're succeeding! The other Democrats do not like this. They did get shellacked. Look at all the state legislatures they lost, all the governorships they lost. What was it, 60 seats, 61 seats in the House now? Whatever it is. It could be as much as 63. I mean, it was a huge shellacking, and they know it's 'cause of this guy. Here. This is Jim VandeHei. On CBS' Slay the Nation during the roundtable Bob Schieffer spoke with VandeHei about the Democrat Party.

Nobody Wants Another 9/11, But...
Mark Halperin. There's a line in Mark Halperin's piece at TIME Magazine. The headline: "What Obama Needs to Come Back: Nothing Short of Luck," and there is a line in this piece toward the end of it. "No one wants the country to suffer another catastrophe. But..." [repeats] "No one wants the country to suffer another catastrophe. But when a struggling Bill Clinton was faced with the Oklahoma City bombing and a floundering George W. Bush was confronted by 9/11, they found their voices and a route to political revival. Perhaps Obama's crucible can be positive -- the capture of Osama bin Laden, the fall of the Iranian regime, a dramatic technological innovation that revitalizes American manufacturing -- something to reintroduce him to the American people and show the strengths he demonstrated as a presidential candidate."

The WikiLeaks Climate Cables
Hey, Snerdley, can you remember the first time I said on this program that environmentalism had nothing to do with the climate? When was the first time that I said militant environmentalism was the new home for displaced communists? It had to be back during the fall of the Berlin Wall. It had to be around 1990 or '91. So we'll figure 20 years ago. Now, this is what being on the cutting edge -- (interruption) What? Well, that's right, '90, '91, the Berlin Wall came down right after Gorbachev -- when I said that militant environmentalism has nothing to do with the climate, has nothing to do with green trees and all this clean water garbage, it's the new home of displaced communists, right? Well, there's a website out there called Watts Up With That? Watts Up With That, more on the WikiLeaks climate cables. It turns out that there are a bunch of cables that have to do with climate change in the WikiLeaks dump, and a number of them prove my point.
