Say It Again: Assange is a Sissy!

I want to get to Ann Althouse, who I like, Ann Althouse has a blog, and she's posted a piece, "Julian Assange -- he's a sissy; he's a waif, purely and simply an Internet creation." That's quoting me from yesterday, "That's how Rush Limbaugh talked about Julian Assange on his show yesterday. What I'm interested in here is not Assange per se or what Limbaugh thinks of him. I'm interested in the gratuitous disparagement of men whose looks and personal style fail to track the masculine stereotype."

Tax Rates & Deficit Commission

All right, Alan Simpson Babe and Irksome Bowles are soon to be chairing the official press conference announcing the actual aspects of their proposal. There's also big news today about the Obama meeting with the Republicans on tax cuts. I just want to ask you a question. When was the last time that Obama called for a meeting with Republicans, "We gotta talk this out amongst ourselves, we gotta come to some common ground," do you remember when it was? That would be the health care summit in which Eric Cantor and a number of other Republicans were up there with Obama, the Democrats, and he listened and rejected all of it. And every time Eric Cantor or Mike Pence or anybody made a brilliant point about something, Paul Ryan, Obama stared at them, angrier than he's ever gotten at Julian Assange, the WikiLeaks sissy who released all the data. So there's nothing that's gonna come of this. We all know what Obama wants. Obama does not want any extension of these tax cuts.

Food Safety Bill has passed...

It sounds so innocent and sweet - but all this bill does is increase the size and scope of the FDA. Do we really want the FDA having the authority to force food recalls? Giving the federal government the ability to take away our food doesn't seem like the smartest idea in the world. But apparently it's a hit with the politicians

Priorities: where does your family rate?

It's amazing how much has changed in our culture in the last century. We've gone from a country that thrived on small communities and families relying on each other, into people who are lost in our own little world. We listen to iPod's, sit on the computer, watch TV. Maybe you didn't even notice you have tuned out - find out how you can reset and get back to the things that matter most.

Trickle Down Bankruptcy

The Federal Government - they always find a way to screw things up. And the bigger it gets the worse it gets, often times at the expense of small local governments. Erick-Woods Erickson from RedState.com examines the catch-22 that local governments find themselves trapped in as the public sector balloons and the small town governments are left footing the bill.

Congress working for you

With all the trouble America is facing -- the economy, global unrest, corruption, every foreign policy secret imaginable being posted on the internet -- Harry Reid decided to spend taxpayer time and money to talk football. College football. It's almost as if Reid could care less about the country as it crumbles around him.

WikiLeaks Hit By Powerful Cyber-Attack

The WikiLeaks website says it’s under a forceful Internet-based attack, and the site is inaccessible to users in U.S. and Europe. The site, which just distributed a trove of U.S. diplomatic documents, said in a Twitter message on Tuesday morning that it’s under a “distributed denial of service attack,” a method commonly used by hackers to slow down or bring down sites. “We are currently under a DDOS attack,” according to one tweet early Tuesday. Shortly after 9 a.m., another tweet was sent, saying, “DDOS attack now exceeding 10 Gigabits a second.” The site was under attack Sunday, but Tuesday’s attack appears to be more powerful. WikiLeaks said the malicious traffic was coming in at 10 gigabits per second, which would make it a relatively large effort. The WikiLeaks site is hosted in Sweden and devoted to releasing anonymously submitted documents.

Senate Rejects GOP Proposal to Ban Earmarks

The Senate has rejected a GOP bid to ban the practice of larding spending bills with earmarks -- those pet projects that lawmakers love to send home to their states. Democrats and a handful of Republicans combined to defeat the effort, which would have effectively forbidden the Senate from considering legislation containing earmarks like road and bridge projects, community development funding, grants to local police departments and special-interest tax breaks. Earlier this month, Republicans bowed to tea party activists and passed a party resolution declaring GOP senators would give up earmarks. House Republicans have also given up the practice, but most Democrats say the earmarks are a legitimate way to direct taxpayer money to their constituents.

New Jersey Man Serving 7 Years for Guns He Owned Legally

No one blames Sue Aitken for Brian's arrest, except herself maybe, but his father and attorney claim that the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office and the former Superior Court judge who tried the case ignored evidence that proved Brian had the guns legally. The family has asked New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for clemency and has garnered a great deal of support on a "Free Brian Aitken" Facebook page and among gun-rights advocates. Aitken and his supporters believe that he had a legal exemption to have the handguns in his car because he was moving from his parents' home to a residence in Hoboken.

Lame Ducks are quacking, but what's getting done?

The lame duck session of Congress is back in business as legislators return from the Thanksgiving holidays. Taxes, spending bills, and a host of other issues sit waiting to be addressed, but what's actually getting done? As the nation braces for a potentially massive tax increase at the beginning of the year, it's time for Congress to stop the rhetoric and get to work. Tops on the list of unresolved legislation are the tax increases that will go into effect if Congress does not renew the Bush tax cut legislation passed nearly ten years ago (2001 and 2003). As reported by FoxNews.com, "The cuts apply to rates on wage income as well as to dividends and capital gains. A failure to act would mean big tax increases for people at every income level."
