Hanukkah and the TSA
For years, the cultural debauchery seemed to be increasing. It was favored by influential political and social leaders as a sign of progressive culture. But no one was required to participate in the practices they found offensive. Then, an invasive government bureaucracy closed off all the options. The people had to comply and participate in repulsive cultural traditions violating their religion and offending their ethical standards as a matter of government policy.
The government was the Seleucid Greek Empire under the dictatorial leadership of Antiochus “Epiphanes.”
Alexander the Great had become ruler of the land of Israel after defeating the Persians at the Battle of Issus. Alexander was a proponent of Hellenization, spreading the Greek culture and way of life around the world. Still, he was very tolerant of the Jewish people and their culture, and he granted Judea autonomy.

Dodging the Debt Limit Stampede
Brand-new Congressmen don’t take office until January, but they’re already consumed with worry about the national debt. They’ll be faced with a vote expected next year to raise the debt ceiling beyond its current $14.3-trillion (about $47,000 apiece for everyone in America).

Reagan Recovery vs. Obama Recovery in Pictures
According to The National Bureau of Economic Research, the Great Recession began in December 2007, lasted 18 months, and ended in June 2009. The last recession that lasted this long began in July 1981, lasted 16 months, and ended in November 1982.
No two recessions are the same. And no two recoveries are going to be exactly the same either … especially when the presidents that preside over them have diametrically opposed philosophies about what government can or should do.

The WikiLeaks Vindication of George W. Bush
The WikiLeaks de facto declassification of privileged material makes it case closed: Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction -- and intended to restart his program once the heat was off.
President George W. Bush, in the 2003 State of the Union address, uttered the infamous "16 words": "The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa."
Former Ambassador Joe Wilson sprang into action and, in an op-ed piece, in effect wrote, "No, the Cheney administration sent me to investigate the allegation -- and I found it without merit."
Put aside that Wilson's CIA-employed wife, not the evil Vice President Dick Cheney -- as Wilson implied -- sent him on the African errand. Put aside that the British still stand by the intelligence on which Bush made the claim.

Confession links Russia to U.S. embassy attack
A new storm cloud may be on the horizon for President Obama over evidence that Moscow may have coaxed Georgian nationals into planting a bomb outside the U.S. embassy in Georgia's capital of Tbilisi, according to a report from Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.
The bomb detonated but caused no damage near the embassy in the attack in September.
Georgia's Interior Ministry apprehended six Georgians who are internally displaced persons from the Georgian breakaway province of Abkhazia. Two other perpetrators remain at large, believed to have escaped to Gali in Abkhazia following the bombing.

Immigration Bill Faces Senate Struggle
Less than 24 hours after the House carved out a path to legalization for hundreds of thousands of foreign-born youngsters brought to this country illegally, their hopes of legal status are likely to be dashed in the Senate.
Democrats face an uphill climb to gather the 60 votes needed in a vote expected Thursday to advance the so-called DREAM Act over opposition by most Republicans and a handful of their own members.

Unhappy Dems Say Tax Cut Bill Likely to Pass
Slowly, painfully and reluctantly, congressional Democrats are slogging their way toward acceptance of President Barack Obama's tax cut compromise, which would let rich and poor Americans keep Bush-era tax cuts that were scheduled to expire this month.
After Obama publicly defended the plan for a third day Wednesday, and Vice President Joe Biden met with Democratic lawmakers in the Capitol for a second day, several Democrats predicted the measure will pass, mainly because of extensive Republican support.

Inertial Security: A Retirement Plan for Unemployed Americans
Now, on another subject, why aren't we creating a retirement program for the unemployed? Don't they need pensions for all the years they've not worked so they can go to Florida and not work? I mean, we have pensions... Like Tim Pawlenty. He had a bus strike. They wanted full health care and pensions after working for 15 years. We've been told that the unemployed receiving benefits are an economic stimulus and that not paying these people not to work would cost us 600,000 jobs, or some number. Well, why...? Why even contemplate the notion of having them go back to work, then?
