WikiLeaks Dropped by Domain Name Provider

WikiLeaks' American domain name system provider, EveryDNS, has withdrawn service to the wikileaks.org name after the secret-spilling website once again became the target of hack attacks. EveryDNS said in a statement that it dropped the website late Thursday because the attacks threatened the rest of its network. "Wikileaks.org has become the target of multiple distributed denial of service attacks. These attacks have, and future attacks would, threaten the stability of the EveryDNS.net infrastructure," it said in a statement. EveryDNS provides access to some 500,000 websites.

We Need Pro-Growth Shock Therapy for Jobs

Now, after the severe financial panic of two years ago, it seems clear that too many tax and regulatory obstacles are blocking satisfactory job creation. And it also seems clear that a number of fresh new incentives will be necessary to spur the kind of prosperity that Americans desire. Following the deep recession, we need shock-therapy, pro-growth, tax-cut and deregulatory incentives. Post-election, is the Washington war on business really over? Has the war on successful earners and investors truly ended? Is the class war against capital still being waged by the White House? Will Obama bring senior business people into his inner circle? Are we going to get pro-growth tax reform for individuals and corporations? Are we truly going to limit government spending in order to reduce the onerous budget deficit? Is King Dollar currency stability on the table?

Durbin: DREAM Act will Come to the Senate Floor Next Week

Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) on Friday predicted a Senate vote on the DREAM Act will be held next week. "Sen. Reid is going to call it," Durbin told The Hill shortly after the chamber adjourned at 3:30 p.m. Friday. Two procedural votes are scheduled for Saturday morning on competing plans to address the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts. The legislation would provide legal residence to the children of immigrants who were brought into the country during their youth if they attend college or join the military. House leaders said this week they expect a vote in the lower chamber next week.

Randi Rhodes Says Conservatives 'Can't Stand' the Constitution

On her radio show Wednesday, Randi Rhodes insisted that conservatives are not constitutionalists. They know nothing about the Constitution, she asserted. She oddly claimed that there's “nothing about politics” in the Constitution, so resisting new spending because it makes you popular is apparently quite unconstitutional behavior: And they don't give a rat's ass if you are suffering through Christmas, or if your 9-year-old is suffering through Christmas, or your 3-year-old is crying...or your 6-year-old is hungry...they just don't give a rat's ass! This is all politics, and frankly, there is nothing about politics in the Constitution, nothing! No parties, no politics!

Obama Pardons 9 Convicted of Drug, Other Offenses

President Barack Obama has granted the first pardons of his presidency, to nine people convicted of crimes including possessing drugs, counterfeiting and even mutilating coins. No one well-known was on the list, and some of the crimes dated back decades or had drawn little more than a slap on the wrist in the first place — such as the Pennsylvania man sentenced in 1963 to probation and a $20 fine for mutilating coins. The White House didn't explain the charge, but tampering with federal currency is a crime.

Chase Bank Orders Branch to Remove Christmas Tree

Chase Bank told a businessman to remove the Christmas tree he donated to a local branch because it could offend people. Antonio Morales, owner of Bellagio Day Spa in Southlake, had assembled and decorated a 9-foot-tall tree in the lobby of the Chase Bank branch at 1700 E. Southlake Boulevard as a favor to the branch manager, who is one of his clients. The tree remained in the lobby from the Monday before Thanksgiving until Tuesday. Morales said his friend called him Wednesday to tell him the tree had to go. She later showed him an e-mail from JPMorgan Chase saying that the tree had to be removed because some people were offended by it. The bank referred questions to corporate offices.

Waters Muddied Over Wikipedia Eligibility Spat

An attorney involved with Sen. John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign says he discussed removing from Wikipedia a listing about Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin, the career Army doctor facing court martial for challenging President Obama's eligibility to be commander in chief, but he did not make the decision to remove it. "I am the poster under the username 'THF' on Wikipedia," attorney Theodore "Ted" Frank told WND today. But, he said, "I was not responsible for making the decision to remove the Lakin articles from Wikipedia." The articles on Lakin, whose trial is scheduled in about two weeks, were posted in September and then again in November, but were removed each time.

Nancy Pelosi is Using Government to Steal from Americans

Nancy Pelosi is either ignorant or one of the most deceitful people in government. Consider this statemement: "Giving $700 billion to the wealthiest people in America does add $700 billion dollars to the deficit. And the record and history shows and does not create jobs." Keeping the current tax rates does not "give" money to anyone. Taxation "takes" money from those who have earned the money. It's theft by government decree, and millions of people think it's OK. While most Americans would agree that stealing is wrong, they don’t seem to have a problem if someone steals for them. Consider the following: If John has a financial need, would it be right for him to rob his neighbors to supply that need? Most people would say no. Would it be right for John to get some of his friends to steal for him? Again, most people would say no. What if John convinces enough people to create a civil government that takes money from his neighbors to pay for things John and others need?

Tax Cut Defeat is Progress, Could Lead to START Ratification

All of the jousting, jostling, and jockeying for position on the Bush-era tax cuts, set to expire by year's end, has reached a fevered pitch in the Senate, with one Democratic senator even likening the ongoing struggle with Republicans to "negotiating with terrorists." All of this will reach a climax on Saturday, when members will vote on two Democratic proposals that would essentially allow Bush-era tax cuts to expire for wealthier Americans. One senior Senate Democratic leadership aide told Fox Friday, "We have to do this to show everyone where we stand. It gets the more liberal members off the cliff's edge, then we can open the door to a compromise. Most Democrats hate the idea of giving in, but it's what we have to do to give the middle class what it needs."
